UK Kandersteg Network
FAQ ?
Why is Kandersteg so Special ?
Kandersteg is the only Centre of the World Scout Movement, and is run as a mini jamboree site, 365-24-7. The atmostphere is special in that every one has the opportunity to meet a wide range of cultures, ideas and way of life, but where everyone is valued and nurtured.
Why is their a need for you ?
The UK is the biggest user of Kandersteg both on nights camped and the number of vistitors, but the group was formed to help support visits to Kandersteg of new groups, to broaden the range of activities such as Ski weeks, Explorer Belt Expedition or even Queens Scout Award Expeditions. And also to make sure that we put back into Kandersteg more than we take out.
What is the weather like in Kandersteg ?
It obvious depends on what time of year you go, and because of its altitude the weather can change quickly. You may like to try this link for the latest weather.
Why a Scout Fellowship / Network ?
It allows us to better fit into the Scout Associations structures, and as a National Fellowship we are in an ideal position to do this. It also means that we can co-ordinateour own activities and share good practice and experience and also learn from our mistakes.
Can anyone join the Fellowship ?
Yes, providing you pay a small annual fee to support the running costs of the fellowship, and if you are not currently a member or associate member of the association we can arrange this to happen for you.
